About Salty Waves Salon
Salty Waves Salon opened in May of 2016. After years of running other local salons, Tonya Carter decided to create her own style salon. The vision was to create a 'come as you are' atmosphere, where everyone felt at home and welcomed. With many choices for locals and tourists to choose from, Salty Waves Salon needed something to set them apart. They carry products that are sulfate free such as Bumble and Bumble, Morrocanoil, Amika and chose a color line, L'Anza, that is one of the most organic color lines.
One of the number one things that the staff prides themselves on is the ability to properly consult with clients. Tonya felt that after years in the business and listening to people and listening to staff, that that was the number one problem with people being unhappy. Another great thing is that our clients are thankful that we know their name, they are not just a client or a number. They truly feel like a priority.
Salty Waves continues their education many times a year by traveling all over the country, to ensure they stay up to date on all the new trends. They continue to grow and are in hopes of offering many more services in the future.

TONYA CARTER

Tonya opened Salty Waves Salon in May 2016 with a dream of creating a welcoming & come as you are environment in a local Midcoast Maine salon. She has been in the business for 20+ years and has run other local salons, but felt it was time to take on her own to create that dream.
She has traveled all over the United States to advance her education and to stay up to date with current styles. She attended Capilo Institute in Augusta, Maine. She loves being a cosmetologist and prides herself in her ability to properly consult with her clients. We all see the same image differently, so her job is to consult properly to make sure both client and stylist see the same thing.
Tonya lives in Friendship, Maine, a little fishing village in Midcoast Maine. She has raised four beautiful children and is excited to focus on her career and build her business to be bigger and better now that she has completed her #1 focus. Some of Tonya’s hobbies and interest include traveling to new locations whenever possible. Whether it be to watch sporting events, somewhere warm in the cold winter months or to educate herself in the beauty industry. She also loves summertime in Maine, anything at the beach or on the water is the best!!

KIARIE OLSEN
Specialties: Highlights, Dimensional Colors, Makeup Application
Kiarie has been with Salty Waves since October of 2019 and apprenticing to be a licensed cosmetologist. She loves to learn as well as observe while services are being done to become familiar with different techniques. She specializes in spray tanning, makeup. brow tinting and facial waxing.
Kiarie is originally from the South, but moved to Midcoast Maine a few years back after attending Southern Maine Community College to be closer to her family. In her free time she loves spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include fitness, shopping and beach walks in the summer.
Kiarie cherishes the friendships made while working here, she is passionate about learning and looks forward to expanding her career.

Emily Pease
Specialties: Blonding, Color, Braiding
Emily has been doing hair for over 5 years now. She resided in Florida to expand her education before moving back to her hometown of Warren Maine. Emily specializes in blonding, colors and braiding. She loves to be creative and enjoys learning different techniques. Emily listens to her clients to ensure they leave the salon with what they asked for.
In her free time Emily enjoys spending quality time with her family, making plans with friends and cooking!

Autumn Sproul
Specialties: Lashes, Hair Extensions and Blonding
Autumn graduated Aveda in 2019. She is certified in lash extensions, Babe hair extensions and lash lifts & tints. She enjoys making her clients feel beautiful and leaving the salon in confidence.
She lives in Washington Maine with her boyfriend and two dogs. In her free time Autumn loves being outside and spending time with her friends and family.

Kat Ryan
Specialties: Acrylics & Nail Art
Kat graduated from Aveda Institute in 2020. She loves the challenge with nail art and doing acrylics.
Kat is always continuing her education to ensure the clients are always happy.
In her free time Kat enjoys spending time with friends, caring for her pets and traveling.

KAREN GRIERSON
Specialties: Cuts, Color, Perms and more!
Karen has been doing hair for 32 years, after 27 yrs of owning her own salon, she now is very happy to be a part of Salty Waves. She graduated Coastal Cosmetology school in Augusta.
She has taken many advanced training classes. A week at Brunos Advanced Academy in Toronto Canada, Jingles Academy in New York City, advanced classes upon a Carribean cruise ship, and numerous continuing education from Maine to Boston in all aspects of hair.
Karen loves every aspect of the cosmetology industry. There’s something new every day, making transformations to hair that lifts her clients day. Building personal and professional relationships with her clients is something she cherishes daily.
In her spare time she loves spending time with her grandkids, cruising, organizing, & finding a good bargain!

BECKY HEAL
Specialty: Cuts & Color
Becky have been a stylist for 27 years. She went to Coastal Cosmetology School in Thomaston, ME. Over the years she has attended many different classes in the salon and at hair shows.
She loves making people feel better about themselves with a fresh new look. She looks forward to helping everyone with all of their hair needs.
In her spare time she enjoys camping with her family. She also loves the holidays, but Halloween has always been one of her favorites.
